About this course
The golf course at the NDA ( National Defence academy) is a 9 hole layout, that can be played as a 18 hole round. The course started in 1961 with very humble beginnings & had a Indian & a Russian designer. The Russian was a instructor in the Russian language at the academy. Started as a 6 hole layout it used to play to about 5405 yards when the layout was repeated thrice. The course had browns & the fairways were rather bare & most of the year, mats were required on the fairways. The Golf hut was built in 1962 and a changing room was constructed in 1972.
In 2007-2008 the golf course underwent a dramatic transformation under the partonage of the Commandant – Air Marshal T S Randhawa. The fairways & tee boxes were realigned, new fairways created, sprinkler systems put in place with water cosnervation methods. The golf hut was renovated, the approach road relaid & the course made a proper greens course. The transformation was implemented, with the able contribution of the Golf club secretary – Wg Cdr D S Kahlon.
Today with American blue grass greens, the course is a reasonably long & challenging layout with some very long holes.
